Shimano introduced a revamped Acera group set. Acera is designed for entry level mountain bikes. Thanks to the trickle-down effect, entry level riders profit from innovations made for high end group sets. The main renovation of Acera is that there is a dedicated MTB and trekking version available. A 40-30-22T crank for MTB and a two dedicated gear combinations for trekking. Both feature mega 9 light drivetrains and have a better matching appearance.

The rear derailleur is compatible to cassettes with up to 36 teeth. The wide link design increases the stiffness for smooth shifting performance and long durability.
